The Great Recession
Carrie collaborated with a team of reporters and developers across the country in 2009 to create the AP Economic Stress Index and accompanying Stress Map, tools that generated a comprehensive view of the nation’s economic health during the Great Recession.
She oversaw all content within the multiple-award-winning Stress Map interactive, from the statistical analysis, data visualization, writing and presentation. After receiving raw video interviews of varying quality from across the country, Carrie conceived how the diverse voices could unite into a cohesive story. She picked the most potent sound bites and directed video editors in streamlining an engaging multimedia experience.
Her work was recognized with a Pulitzer Prize nomination, the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award for Digital Media Presentation and a Malofiej Bronze Medal, among others.
